       1. The followings are the key concepts to understand correlational research:
(1)    Correlational research: investigates how scores on one variable or two variables rise or falls of score on other variables rise or falls.
(2)    Coefficient of correlation : a statistic that shows the degree of relationship between two variables.
(3)    Coefficient of determination :  is used in the context of statistical models whose main purpose is the prediction of future outcomes on the basic of other related information.
(4)    Correlation matrix : a matrix giving the correlations between all pairs of data sets.
(5)    Correlation ratio : a measure of the non-linier relationship between two variables.
(6)    Discriminant analysis : a procedure of the determination of the group to which an individual belongs based on the characteristics of that individuals.
(7)    Dummy variable : a variable which has no true mathematical significance and is used only to facilitate notation.
(8)    Factor analysis : given sets up variable which are related linearly. Factor analysis studies techniques of approximating each sets relative to the others.
(9)    Multiple correlation : a statistical technique that predicts value of one variable on the basis of two or more other variable.
(10) Partial correlation : a technique use to determine what correlation remain between two variables when the effect of another variable is eliminated.
(11) Path analysis : a method of analysis aimed to schedule a set of task so that they are all completed in the shortest possible overall time.
(12) Phi coefficient : a measure of the degree of association between two binary variables.
(13) Predictor : a variable that can be used to predict the value of another variable.
(14) Spearman’s Rho : a statistic used as a measure of correlation in non- parametric statistic when the data are in ordinal form.

     2.  The correlational research conducted that the correlation between vocabulary mastery and speaking ability is positive. What does this conclusion mean?
-          When the people master in vocabulary, it means that they are having perfect speaking skills.

     3. What does a negative coefficient indicate?
-          A negative coefficient indicates that as one variable increases and the other decreases.

4.There are many kinds of correlation coefficients (Ary.2002:354). Three of them are:
(1)    Pearson Product Moment Coefficient : is used when the variable to be correlated are normally distributed and measure on an interval or ratio scale.
(2)    Spearman’s Rho Coefficient : is used when the data are ranks rather than raw scores.
(3)    Phi Coefficient : is used when both variables are genuine dichotomies scored 1 or 0.

      5.  What are considered for interpreting a correlation coefficient?
a.       According to its absolute size and predictive utility.
b.      In relation to another correlations of the same or similar variables.
c.       In terms of its statistical significance.

6.The coefficient can range in value from +1.00 through 0 to – 1.00.
(1)    What does + 1.00 indicate?
+1.00 indicates a perfect positive relations.
(2)    What does 0 indicate?
0 indicates no correlations.
(3)    What does -1.00 indicate?
-1.00 indicates a perfect negative relations.
