CONTEXTUAL LEARNING MODEL (CTL)
• Contextual learning is the concept of learning that encourages teachers to link between what is taught and students real-world situations. And also encourages students to make connections between its knowledge and its application in their daily lives.
PHILOSOPHICAL BASIS OF CONTEXTUAL LEARNING MODEL
1. CTL reflects the concept of interdependence.
2. CTL reflects the principle of differentiation
3. CTL reflects the principle of self-organization
The cornerstone philosophy of CTL is
• constructivist learning philosophy that emphasizes meaning that learning is not just memorizing. Students must construct their own knowledge in mind. Knowledge can not be separated intact.
• Constructivism is rooted in the philosophy of pragmatism which was initiated by John Dewey in the early 20th century the philosophy of learning that emphasizes the development interests and experiences of students.
